Oftentimes,
executives talk about wanting more data to help them make effective strategy,
culture and talent decisions. But are they serious enough to support the kind
of effort you know it would take?
Training measurement services advise you to think carefully about what resources you
will need before you launch any major measurement project. You need to have the
personnel (or outside organization) to design the measurement tool, the technology
to distribute it, the cooperation of the employees involved, the technology to
capture the data, the expertise to analyze the results and the means to present
the final report. All this takes time…and often it is time away from employees’
“day” jobs.
This
will not be a problem if you have executive backing. Your leadership needs to
understand what they can learn, how much it will cost in time and money, and
how long it will take. Give them your best estimates. With their buy-in, you
can begin the measurement process and keep them informed as to your progress.
