First Know Where You Want to Go and Then How

Before you begin any kind of learning and development program, you need to know where you want to go and then how will get you there.

This is not the time to simply explore…random efforts are costly and do not pay off. You need to wisely choose your destination and then decide which boat will get you to your goal most efficiently and effectively.

Once your specific objectives have been defined, set up a system of training measurement. Not only will you be able to track progress but you will also be able to measure:

  • How effective the training has been.
  • How well the lessons are being applied on the job.
  • What impact the new behaviors have had on real business results.

Because “real business results” are what you are after, right? Do not embark upon any training journey without clear business goals and a meaningful measurement process.
